This building was erected in 1928.
This building was erected in 1928.

In May of 1926, Tom Walker held a gospel meeting in the district courtroom of the Ector County Courthouse. There were about 25 men, women and children in attendance. The church became known as Northside Church of Christ.

At that time, this was the only Church of Christ in Odessa. The name was changed to 6th & Jackson Church of Christ in 1964. 6th & Jackson had a part in establishing several congregations in Odessa and the surrounding area. The name was changed to 6th & Jackson Church of Christ in 1964.

The building pictured on the left was built on the corner of 6th & Jackson Streets. Additions were made to the original building in the 1940’s and 1950’s as you can see in the picture on the right. Since the original building was built, there have been at least seven additions. The last addition was completed in December of 1999.
